Midwest Sustainability Group (MSG) is dedicated to protecting Northern Illinois natural resources, air, water, and open spaces through community advocacy, sustainable transportation planning, and zero waste initiatives. We bring together citizens, experts, and local leaders to enact real, lasting environmental solutions.

Leadership & Team

Barbara Klipp — Executive Director
Co-founder of Incinerator-Free Lake County, Sierra Club Zero Waste Team Leader, and former Co-Chair of Livable Lake County. Barbara has led grass-roots environmental campaigns for over a decade, helping halt destructive highway expansions and protecting local wetlands.

Isabella Parra — Youth & Diversity Outreach Coordinator
An advocate for wilderness protection and Arctic conservation, Isabella works to engage diverse youth voices in regional sustainability and environmental justice initiatives.

Melinda Bush — Leadership Advisor
Former Illinois State Senator and Forest Preserve Commissioner, Melinda brings decades of legislative and conservation experience to MSG’s advocacy work.
